Peru - Sunday 18 October 1998
Today, we make a bus-tour through the Cusco region. I'm quite tired after last night, but decide to join the tour nevertheless..
We see several Inca-monuments, like the famous Sacsayhuaman-fortress. But we don't stop there!! Redicilous. We do stop for more than thirty minutes at a horrible souvenir market. I get depressed, maybe that's the problem.
Later, we go to a beautiful Inca-monument, high on a mountain. Our guide explains why the buildings are so strong, how they were built and what their function was. It's very impressive to see how developed those Inca's were!
We visit another stuff market, but this one is much nicer. More space, higher quality and nicer people.
After lunch, we visit one of the most important Inca-monuments, Ollantaytambo.
Almost everything here has a deeper meening. Everything here is built on a place where it is lightened in a special way on certain days. Very special.
Our tour leader this time is a famous scientist on Inca-history. He has written several books about it, which he also uses during his explanation.
We return in our hotel when it's dark. For dinner we take only some sandwiches, and we go to bed early this time.
